NewJeans will rock the stage with this year’s League of Legends Worlds anthem

The new song will be released on October 3rd, a week before the esports tournament kicks off.

The 2023 League of Legends World Championship is happening in Korea this year, and Riot has chosen one of the country’s most popular bands to perform the official anthem. Girl group NewJeans — famous for their songs like “Super Shy” — will be singing the new song. It’s called “Gods” and it will be out on the night of October 3rd.

The songs usually have a majestic and motivational tone to match the event, making NewJeans — with their relaxed and cool attitude — a curious choice.

“With Worlds taking place in Korea and NewJeans’ incredible success, this partnership felt like a natural fit for a true cultural celebration,” said Carrie Dunn, Riot’s global head of creative for esports, in a statement. “‘Gods’ blends epic and intense musical elements with NewJeans’ stunning and powerful vocals — expressing both the challenge and the glory that awaits our players at Worlds.”

As for Worlds, the tournament will begin with matches on October 10th, ending with the final on November 19th at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul.
